Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant Project

The Sanmen Nuclear Power Station, located in Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province, can accommodate six 1.25 million-kilowatt (MW) nuclear power units (AP1000), with a total installed capacity of 7.5 million kW. It is a key achievement of China's third-generation nuclear power independence program and a key achievement of Sino-US energy cooperation.

The walls of the containment vessel within the nuclear power station are very thick and densely reinforced, with large-diameter rebar. On-site tying and splicing of such thick rebar is impractical. Therefore, a large number of thread bar couplers are used extensively for vertical and horizontal main reinforcement connections.
